Department of Foreign Language and Literature

 

1. Faculty

The Department has 71 teachers, of which 2 professors, 10 assistant professors; 8 teachers with master’s degrees; 7 teachers from foreign countries.

 

2. Number of students.

There are now more than 1600 students in the Department.

 

3. Laboratory and facilities

The Department has advanced teaching methods and complete teaching facilities, with 12 multi-functional phonetic labs, and two FM radio stations with an asset value of about RMB 3 million yuan. In addition, it also has about 10 thousand original English books and foreign-language teaching and research materials which can meet the needs of teachers and students in teaching and study.

 

4. Achievements in scientific research

More than 155 academic papers and 25 books have been published by teachers of the Department, and more than 24 prizes were awarded for academic research.

 

5. Activities with unique characteristics

The Department focuses its attention on enhancing the quality of students by offering specialties with unique characteristics, and training students with practical skills, so as to fit in with the needs of the society. Since its establishment, it has cultivated more than 5000 graduates.

The Department offers 3 specialties: English, Business English, and English for Economy and Trade Affairs
